Offer In Compromise, Quick Fix This is not the "quick fix" as used to be
promised on late night television!! The terms "pennies on the
dollar" pay nothing and such told on advertisements on late night television do
not work! The one thing they do work for is getting money out of
your pocket. I personally contacted one of these "miracle worker" firms in
the San Fernando Valley. Yes they would solve my tax problems yes
everything was going to be wonderful. After collecting a few figures from
me the representative was very happy to take my case and work to solve my
problems. What they wanted form me was a deposit of $500.00 and $500.00
per month for the next ten months. What this means is that they would
collect from me was $5500.00 spread out over 10 months. He told me that my
offer would probably take a year, first they would submit one on my behalf that
would be rejected and then proceed from there.
$5,500.00 from me and only a promise of a
possibility of an accepted offer in compromise!!!!! Levies & Liens It is true filing a offer in compromise
will stop the levying of property. The IRS will not levy property once the
IRS has accepted the offer for processing. Any levies prior will not
generally be removed or any property taken will not be returned. What acceptance
of an offer for processing will do is to prevent future levies.
Liens upon
acceptance of an offer the IRS will place a lien on ALL of your assets!
This lien can be removed but the IRS will require their "pound of flesh"
This is a link to one of the IRS auctions of seized property
IRS Auctions. In1993 I received a tax bill for over
$130,000. My situation was unusual in that I had a long series of dramas
in my life along with my own irresponsibility I was unable to pay may taxes past
and currant. I negotiated an offer and was successful in paying an amount
considerably less than the total owed. Please see the attached link to
view the letter I received at the end of my payment plan.
My Offer in Compromise. In all probability I can do for you what I did for myself with similar circumstances.
